Socially Distant but Not Disconnected

There’s no way around it, these are troubling times. The impact of COVID-19 on our daily lives, both personal and professional, is becoming increasingly clear, and increasingly stressful. Many parts of our daily routines have changed significantly due to widespread closings of schools, workplaces, and other public spaces. For many, the safe and highly recommended practice of social distancing feels more like social isolation and hopelessness.

Here at Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana (MHANI), we know that now is not a time to socially disconnect. During these unprecedented times, we all need social connectedness more than anything else. We know that we can be socially distant but not disconnected.

That’s why we’ve moved many of our supports online, so that anyone with an Internet connection and a phone or computer can access them for free. You can see full details of how our programs have changed below.

Difficult situations like this can negatively impact mental and emotional health. Extreme stress and anxiety can make it difficult to function normally. Please have patience with yourself, your children, and your neighbors.

We’re all in this together! And now, like any other time, MHANI is here to support you.

Program Updates

Anxiety and Depression Support Group

We have moved our support group online using Zoom web conferencing software. The support group continues to meet on Wednesday night from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. If interested in attending, please contact group facilitator Lacey Holt at lholt@mhanortheastindiana.org for the Zoom information.

Trainings

At this time, all trainings are being held virtually using Zoom video conferencing software. We continue to monitor and adhere to the governor’s latest recommendations regarding allowable groups. Keep an eye on our event calendar for our latest trainings.

Recovery Courses

For the foreseeable future, all Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) recovery courses will be conducted virtually using Zoom, which you can access for free. WRAP courses teach you how to apply the Five Key Concepts of Recovery to your everyday life to improve your quality of life. Participants identify tools and action plans to counter the negative effects of life challenges. If you are interested in attending one of our newly-added courses, you can find them all on our Eventbrite page.

Guardianship Services

Our team of Professional Guardians continue to advocate on behalf of their clients by maintaining regular contact with providers through phone calls, texts, emails, and conference calls. Many of our clients’ service providers have enacted visitor restrictions to protect their residents, and our Professional Guardians are adhering to these restrictions which are in the best interests of our clients.
