Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana (MHANI) has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak. The safety of our clients, their families, and our community as a whole remains our top priority.

As social distancing increasingly becomes the norm, and is highly recommended by both local and national health departments and agencies in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, MHANI is making some temporary changes to our programs and services.

This is a time of great uncertainty and anxiety for many, so MHANI staff have been compiling mental health resources related to COVID-19 which we encourage you to review. This list is being added to on a regular basis as more information is released, and we hope it helps you and your families stay mentally well during these unprecedented times.

At this time, our office is still open, and we are still available to answer your questions. Contact us at (260) 422-6441 or info@mhanortheastindiana.org if you need support. You can also review current socially-distanced options for support below.

Parent Cafe – At this time, all in-person Parent Cafe meetings have been cancelled. Meetings are now being held virtually using Zoom, a free web conferencing software. You can view the current schedule of meetings on the Parent Cafe page of our website. Parents are also invited to join our Facebook group, Strong Parent Lounge, to receive additional support and resources from other parents.

Trainings – We are postponing or cancelling some of our previously scheduled trainings in March and April. We are in the process of contacting training organizers. If you registered for a training that is being cancelled or postponed, you will receive notice of cancellation or postponement by email. We are also updating our event calendar by removing cancelled trainings and moving postponed trainings to their new date and time.

Anxiety and Depression Support Group – We have moved our support group online using Zoom web conferencing software. Our usual Wednesday night meeting is closed to new participants. We have started a new support group, meeting every Monday from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm using Zoom. You can sign up for next Monday’s free support group on Eventbrite. There will be a new Eventbrite for each week’s session, so we ask all attendees to continue signing up for the support group through Eventbrite.

Recovery Courses – For the foreseeable future, all Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) recovery courses will be conducted virtually using Zoom, which you can access for free. WRAP courses teach you how to apply the Five Key Concepts of Recovery to your everyday life to improve your quality of life. Participants identify tools and action plans to counter the negative effects of life challenges. If you are interested in attending one of our newly-added courses, you can find them all on our Eventbrite page.

Cedars Hope – In order to keep residents as safe as possible, group trips and outside activities have been postponed. Group gatherings within the houses have been restricted to abide by social distancing recommendations. We have implemented a series of health protocols, including regular temperature monitoring and encouraging proper hand washing. Hygiene and sanitation practices have been increased, and no visitors are allowed on premises. Donations of unopened food, unopened hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and other cleaning supplies are welcome. Contact Cedars Hope directly at (260) 420-3507 if interested in donating food or supplies.

Guardianship Services – Our team of Professional Guardians continue to advocate on behalf of their clients by maintaining regular contact with providers through phone calls, texts, emails, and conference calls. Many of our clients’ service providers have enacted visitor restrictions to protect their residents, and our Professional Guardians are adhering to these restrictions which are in the best interests of our clients.
