Mental health is a topic that many people don’t know much about. Part of the reason for this is the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness. It is normal for people to discuss physical ailments, but most people are too embarrassed or ashamed to talk about any issues going on inside their heads.

Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana (MHANI) works towards removing this stigma regarding mental health so we can all feel comfortable learning about mental health and mental illness.

A large part of what we do is education. We sponsor and help organize training events throughout the region. These can include lectures, workshops, and discussions.

MHANI staff are available to visit your organization to teach staff about a variety of mental health topics. These may include depression, work-related stress, suicide warning signs and prevention, mental illness in the workplace, accommodating disabilities, and other topics that are relevant to your company. MHANI also offers Lunch & Learn workshops to provide information about mental health issues. Every other month, experts in their field present a mental health topic during the lunchtime. The Lunch & Learn Workshops are bi-monthly and held from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Citizens Square Building in the Omni Room. CEU’s (1.0 hour) are available at no cost.
