Join Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana on December 6th for two performances by local performing arts organizations.

Break the Silence

“Break the Silence” is a contemporary dance performance that showcases several vignettes that relate to mental health. Mental health affects our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and it can determine how we feel, think, and act. The dance pieces in this show will bring together all these elements, as each piece tells its own story of how beautiful, chaotic, joyous, and sometimes unclear life can be; bringing to light issues that should be talked about in our society, without stigma.

Performance created and performed by Fort Wayne Dance Collective.

Mirror Lake Players

Founded in 1979, the University of Saint Francis Jesters program provides multi-disciplinary performing arts opportunities to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), ages 8-senior citizens. The Jesters program year includes a summer exploration, a core academic-year program with an original culminating performance and guest artist residencies.

In 2017, the Jesters began presenting guest artists from Second City Theatre Chicago for workshops teaching improvisational skills to people with I/DD. In 2018, the Jesters program created a new improv group comprised of people with I/DD. The group meets monthly and performs under the name Mirror Lake Players. This lecture-demonstration will feature Mirror Lake Players exploring a range of improv games.
