Join Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana (MHANI) and Be Strong Families to learn how to conduct Parent Cafe sessions successfully and with fidelity to the model. The two-day workshop will be held on June 10 and 11, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM both days.

Organizations are encouraged to send teams of 4 individuals to the Training Institute, and these teams should include parents. This training is being provided at no cost.

About Parent Cafe Training Institute

A Café Training Institute is a two-day experiential and highly interactive training that prepares parents and providers to convene and conduct Be Strong Families Parent Cafés™ and to serve as table hosts at the cafés. By the end of the training, participants will know the anatomy of a Be Strong Families Café, the philosophical foundations and research underlying cafés as an educational and engagement strategy, how to create an ambiance conducive to maximizing the effectiveness of the café process, how to create their own café theme, and how to build on the café experience to enhance programming for parents and youth. Participants will also learn the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors in Parent and Dad Cafés, the YouthThrive Protective and Promotive Factors™ in #WoWTalk Cafés and the Vitality Domains in Vitality Cafés. They will also have had experience conducting and participating in three café experiences.

Keep in Mind

Due to budget constraints, no snacks, beverages, or lunch will be provided either day of the training. Vending machines are available in the training building, and there are a number of lunch options in the area. Feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages to sustain you throughout the day.

You may need to purchase some materials during the training to complete a Parent Cafe simulation. Please be prepared to use your own funds or organizational funds to do so.
